Fisher & Paykel Introduces New CPAP Line
At SLEEP 2010 earlier in June, Fisher & Paykel, Irvine, Calif., introduced the ICON line of CPAP therapy devices. According to the company, the three-model line can be applied in a variety of ways, including as titration units or long-term treatment solutions for a range of patients.
- The Auto detects interruptions to normal breathing and provides the appropriate positive airway pressure to meet the breath-by-breath needs of the patient with flexibility in pressure modes and full efficacy reporting. The Auto also includes SensAwake technology, giving the ability to sense the pattern of irregular breathing that occurs at the transition from sleep to awake, and promptly reduces pressure to aid the transition back to sleep.
- The Premo meets demand for fixed pressure therapy and full efficacy and compliance reporting.
- The Novo is a standard CPAP with basic compliance reporting.
All units in the ICON range include InfoSmart technologies, which provide a range of communication and reporting options to suit the patient management preferences of individual medical practices. In addition, ThermoSmart technology provides a more comfortable CPAP experience, improves sleep quality and total sleep time, lowers nasal airway resistance for 10 percent lower pressure, and eliminates condensation, according to the company.
The new design of the ICON units is stylish and compact. They come in neutral colors to blend into any bedroom decor. The units also feature full digital and alarm clocks to free up space on the nightstand and to improve how patients adapt to CPAP therapy, according to Fisher & Paykel representatives.
