CMS Issues Information About Round 1 Rebid Process

The American Association of Homecare (AAHomecare) reports that a slightly modified version of the Request for Bids (RFB) instructions and accompanying forms will be published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) so that providers can better identify and understand the requirements to submit a bid if and when a rebidding of round 1 of competitive bidding occurs. According to the Federal Register, CMS also modified the format of some of these documents to help ease the burden of bid submission.

Additionally, providers who receive a contract will be required to provide CMS with information on contract supplier subcontracting relationships. If providers choose to enter into a contract with CMS and use a subcontractor to furnish items and services, the provider would be required to disclose information about each subcontracting arrangement and information proving the subcontractor meets accreditation requirements.

A notice of request for comments regarding the rebid of round 1 of competitive bidding as well as the disclosure of subcontracting relationships was published May 19 in the Federal Register. HME stakeholders have until 5 p.m. June 18 to submit comments. View this announcement, located on page 23415 of the Federal Register.
