Philips Respironics Launches Webinar Learning Sessions
Understanding the importance of continuing education for respiratory and sleep therapy professionals, Philips Respironics launched the Know How Webinar program, offering free live and on-demand updates on a variety of topics ranging from scientific findings and trends to business knowledge and product information.
Know How Webinars will address three areas:
- Business—Covering topics such as reimbursement guidelines, cost-saving strategies and equipment selection.
- Clinical—Reviewing clinical findings on, for example, obstructive sleep apnea, the use of noninvasive and invasive ventilation, and home oxygen therapy, for physicians, respiratory therapists and sleep technologists.
- Products—Offering information on the latest products and programs from Philips Respironics.
The Webinar format includes a moderator and a live presentation by a clinical researcher, physician, respiratory therapist or Respironics subject matter expert. Participants will be able to interact with the presenter during a question-and-answer session. Pre-recorded Webinars are also available on demand at any time on the Know How Web site at http://knowhow.respironics.com. Live sessions last approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and on-demand sessions last from 10 to 60 minutes. No special software is required, and new programs will be added monthly.
Philips Respironics’ education program has existed as a pilot since August 2009, with more than 2,000 participants having registered to attend 15 programs. “At a time when the sleep and home respiratory industry is facing a number of challenges, this program is the latest example of the way we’re reaching out to provide information on critical business and clinical issues,” said John Frank, vice president and general manager, Home Respiratory Care, Philips Home Healthcare Solutions. “The online format of Know How Webinars enables us to share information in a way that is timely and relevant.”
In March, featured Know How Webinar topics include a discussion of obstructive sleep apnea and related co-morbidities as well as how to prepare oxygen patients for air travel. In addition, Philips Respironics is requesting ideas for future Webinar subjects.
